Looking for a sweet project to show some affection this Valentine's Day? Check out these heart-shaped cupcakes made with some really simple kitchen trickery.
Our Kitchn friends found some great heart-shaped pans for V-Day treats, but all you need for these cuties are a few marbles; position one between each liner and the cupcake tin. Oh, you say you've lost your marbles? Use 1/2" balls of aluminum foil instead and mix up a batch of your favorite muffins or cupcakes.

Nomade Express Slee...
I just read about this ingenious use of marbles last night while perusing my latest issue of Real Simple. I can't wait to try this out...maybe with the Strawberry Milk Cake recipe from The Kitchn. http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/dessert/oldfashioned-valentines-recipe-scalded-strawberry-milk-cake-138087
Marbles are a good idea. I used some dry beans since it was what I had on hand.
I forgot that I had read about this! Thanks for the reminder, perfect timing as usual!
Many thanks! My daughter's classroom teacher requested mini heart-shaped muffins for a project tomorrow, but I didn't want to buy another baking pan to store all year long.
some yellow icing and these would make cute pac men too!
my mom used this trick when I was little!
So cute!
