Rock collections vary far and wide: there are small and varied pebbles collected from travels, accumulated field stones laid outdoors, and river rocks loved for their smooth texture. Here, we're looking at rocks collected because of their shape — hearts!
Starting a collection like this can mean great fun over many years. Every time you go for a trip, take a hike, or just take a walk in the park, you're in a constant game of searching for heart-shaped rocks. Collecting many of them together makes for a sweet display that can only bring smiles to those who behold it.
Have you collected rocks? What were the criteria for your collection?

Shaw's Original Fir...
I have a heart shaped rock. I've probably had it for 10 plus years. Never started a collection of them, but I do love the one I have.

Or if you'd rather just see great photos of them, this is a beautiful little book:

I live next to a park with hiking trails on which you can find walnut shells, each half a beautiful heart. To me, they are wonderful signs granted by the road, so no surprise that I always pick them up and now have a huge collection of them scattered around the house and in the garden.
I have a rock from every place I've lived as an adult. We mostly use them as doorstops, but it's nice to feel like I have a connection to all my old apartments.
We live across the street from a river. Every time my 4 year old son goes down there with my husband, he brings me back a heart shaped rock. Thanks to his sweetness, I have a great collection now.
I do not collect rocks but did find a heart shaped one while camping last month! I decided to leave it at the lake, but loved it just the same.

I collect heart-shaped rocks too!! :) And of course, being originally from Michigan, I collect Petoskey stones. I hand polish them too!
My husband brought me one from his last trip! It was very thoughtful since they were somewhere without any shopping ops (camping/kayaking)!
Drat! Now I'll be studying stones everywhere, as if I needed something ELSE to look for! ;^)
I have had a heart shaped rock in my wallet for years (a small one). I love this and it's so nice to hear I am not the only one slighly obsessed with the heart shaped rock.
My mom and sister collect these, too! It is fun to pick them up here and there. I like these display ideas, especially the pink backdrop!
Heart shaped rocks!!! On my summer trip to Europe last year, we stopped at a rocky beach in Nice, france and went on a heart shaped rock hunt...let's just say I now have a wonderful collection displayed in my bathroom!

After our first big fight, my boyfriend went for a walk to calm down. He saw a heart-shaped rock on his way home and brought it to me. It was very sweet and the perfect "I'm sorry" gift.
If you're interested in good photography of of heart-shaped rocks, check out Found Hearts. My nonprofit had a fundraiser with a silent auction two years ago, and local photographer Rick Ruggles donated some of his photos of "found hearts." hthttp://www.foundhearts.com/prints.html
( I am also in love with his photos of heart-shaped architectural detailing, ironwork, etc.)
