Heath Ceramics is consistently synonymous with quality, old fashioned artisanship as evidenced by their beautiful tiles and dinnerware. Up to this point, we had to visit their Sausalito factory or store in LA to see a wide selection of their work in one spot. Now, with the opening of their new Heath Marketplace in the Ferry Building, it just got a whole lost easier to go ga ga for Heath.
Officially opened for business on March 29th, the Heath Marketplace was designed by Commune (also responsible for the fabulous LA store). The store features five heath tile installations highlighting the different tiles that Heath offers. Beyond selling the Heath Ceramics we all know and love, the marketplace also sells wares by Skinny LaMinx, Commune, Jonathan's Spoons, Native Organic, Wine Punts and many others.

A monitor showing live-feed from the Sausalito factory is being installed, but if you feel inclined to visit the factory in the flesh the new factory tour schedule is now coordinated with the ferry schedule.
The new Heath Marketplace is located dangerously close to Miette and Blue Bottle Cafe in the Ferry Building. Be sure to stop by the new space soon! We already have our eye on a pitcher from the Coupe line of ceramics and some of Commune's amazing table linens.

Love Heath Ceramics.
Ever since I went to their factory in Sausalito and took the tour to see how everything is hand-made, I've been a major fan.
As a Heath Ceramics fan and collector, I wholeheartedly agree! Visiting their Sausalito factory/store is a local treasure, especially during their Open Studio weekends. Can't wait to visit this marketplace!
Just back to the office - bought a set of Moonstone Pasta bowls during my lunch hour...
...the guys who work there are great - very helpful - even able to give me some general info on some discontinued/seconds tile!
Dear Heath Ceramics,
Please build a store in Houston, Texas.
Love,
Jane
I'm OUTRAGED. I just got back from San Francisco. Why didn't I know about this place???? Ugghhh. Oh well, it just gives me a great excuse for another visit. Yippeee!
Such a nice day on the Embarcadero. I have just returned to the Bay Area and didn't know that food vendors set up shop on Thursdays and drew immense lines during lunch hour.
This will give me another excuse to get out of the office and linger a bit during lunch. Thank you.
thank goodness this opened after we moved out of sf or else I would've been in some serious trouble. eeek!
ooh. i can't wait to check it out!
It's gorgeous. My Heath budget is going to have to go way up. =D
bepsf, when did you take the tour? I worked in the factory store from July 2008 to November 2009 and really enjoyed giving tours on Saturdays... It's a great company, a lovely group of people, and a fabulous product. Now I'm back in NY and back in editorial work. Sure do miss that employee discount, but I took good advantage while I was there! I have to check out the Ferry Building next time I'm in SF; it was still in the planning stages when I was last there.
