Tyler Doran contacted us recently about his unique Providence shop, Heir, which opened last September. More art gallery than a typical antique store, Heir offers a beautifully edited collection of antiques, art, uncommon home and personal accessories, and select RISD alumni and student work. We were struck by Doran's photography and will definitely be making a trip down to Providence very soon...
In addition to his antiques and accessories, Doran carries RISD alumni and student work which he feels fits within the aesthetic of the shop and adds to the dynamic of mixing antique pieces with contemporary design. I've had the pleasure of stopping by Heir Antiques on several occasions and eagerly encourage others to do the same. Mr. Doran's taste is superb. I purchased several Christmas gifts there this year -- a Billy Kirk wallet and a Strong Arm Society necklace -- and the recipients were thrilled.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that very long sideboard (or whatever it is). Is it a server? A bar? I'd love something like that for my bedroom to use as my primary dresser. It looks about eight feet long.
Anyone know where I might be able to find a similar vintage piece -- for not much money, I'm on a tight budget -- in the NY area?
