060106hejfinalogo.jpg"Hejfina is a boutique that carries essentials for a lifestyle centered around modern function and form." When we first stepped into hejfina, we knew that it was not a store easily categorized by its things. Rather, the space serves its lifestyle boutique function by playing host to the design community, not just existing as a shopping stop.

060106hejfina1.jpgWhen Heiji Choy, the owner and creator of hejfina, moved to Chicago, she knew it was the perfect city (full of "energy, style and appreciation for the arts") for creating her boutique, which is inspired by those she experienced in Paris and Tokyo.

In addition to men and women's clothing, shoes and accessories, the store showcases custom furniture and art and architecture books. Most impressively, the well-suited space also serves as an interactive design lab, hosting installations by up and coming Chicago artists and various speakers on current topics in art and architecture (we'll be keeping you posted on these events here on AT).

Hejfina's resident Chicago-based custom furniture makers include: ism Furniture, Michael Koehler Furniture and Carson Maddox. The boutique also carries vessels and lighting from local glass designers, F2.

Continuing its quest to bring us modern function and form (in all its forms), hejfina features books on art and architecture that inspire the designs found throughout the store: Taschen, Phaidon, Rizzoli, Princeton Architectural Press, DAP, Assouline, Prestel and Powerhouse Books.
