We first heard about the Bugaboo double in September 2010 and just got word that it's finally here; next month it will ship in the US, the UK, the Netherlands and Spain. The oddly named Bugaboo Donkey is billed as the first mono-duo-mono convertible stroller. Hee haw!
When Carrie initially shared the news of the highly anticipated Bugaboo double there was still no pricing information available. Well, here you have it: $1199 in mono configuration, $1499 in duo configuration, and $1659 in twin configuration. Read more about the Donkey at the Bugaboo Pressroom.
Customizable seating configuration has been a recent trend in the stroller market, with options including the Baby Jogger City Select and Uppa Baby Vista. We wonder how many parents are buying strollers for their first child with a second in mind, and we want to know what you all think of the Donkey.

Nomade Express Slee...
Ok, we have a bug - a chameleon, but holy kamoley! That's expensive!!!
We have a chameleon too and oddly enough, I am not shocked by the price. I just wish the weight limit was higher. We used it all the time with our first but by the time we had a second kid I found a sling easier. We've used our double maclaren exactly twice in two years.
I admit that I have deep envy over the shopping basket. I wonder if they will sell it as an add on.
Now this makes me wish I was rich. It's fantastic.
Am I the only one who thinks it looks ugly, wide and unwieldy in the "single" configuration!?
MamaKate, you're not the only one. I don't like it. Much prefer the Select. The side basket is pretty neat, though. I give it that.
I want the duo. My daughter will be 2 years old when our new addition arrives. I need it. But - dang! - that's a lot of money.
Oh my goodness. That is so much for a stroller. A STROLLER. And you probably can't even fit through aisles or fit in your car...what's the point?! If anyone has two kids, I still say the Phil & Ted's is the only way to go, and it's still a bit $$$.
Looks huge.
that stroller cost more than my first car
@ tasharoe - lmfao, it's so true.We have the city select by baby jogger and we won't leave it in our trunk because it's worth more than our beater of a car.
By the time #2 came along (2 years after #1), we had accumulated 3 cheap-o single strollers, all for different purposes. I'd like to say that we would have bought our first stroller with an eye to the second kid, but we certainly didn't have enough experience to know what we wanted--especially at the high end prices! We ended up with an Indie twin and LOVE it, though we use it primarily for neighborhood walks since it's a beast even when folded. I can't imagine even looking at strollers over $1000!
are you kidding me? I HATE people with giant strollers. HATE THEM
