Q: Dear Unplggd, I know most people look to you to help create spaces in the home mostly with a modern decor theme. But how about ideas for those of us looking to incorporate vintage and antique items with our modern day tech tools? Would love some inspiring home office ideas that would work well with my vintage typewriter collection AND my Sony VAIO laptop. Could you give me some ideas how to mix new with old?

Editor - Did you see this reuse project over at Apartment Therapy months back, converting a panel door into a magnetic chalkboard weekly calendar to hang above the desk? Sort of perfect for someone who has a love of the old, and we'd imagine it could complement your antique typewriter collection nicely, while also only requiring everyday household items (maybe you even have an old door in the garage or in storage already).

You might also want to check out How to Create a Rustic, Vintage Office Environment for a few additional ideas and inspirations. Most of easiest solutions for creating a cohesive vintage themed office is incorporating a mix of accessories, artwork and finding a desk that can both reflect your old timey aesthetics while playing nice with your new tech tools. Once again, perhaps you can look to an old door for the answer!
