Unless you live in a painfully obvious home with giant, well illuminated house numbers, finding a home for the first time can be tricky. When inviting guests over, especially those which might not have been there before (coworkers, friends from church or clubs), giving them a little extra help is always appreciated.
These glowing boxes are just what the disoriented ordered and are a quick diy with printable template from the party throwing vixen herself, Martha Stewart.
Although we live in an age where everyone has GPS, no one really wants to be standing in the street wondering which building is yours once they've landed in the right neighborhood. Even if your place is easy to find, these glowing numbers create an extra-welcoming atmosphere that says you're glad they could make it before they've even set foot in your home.
You can check out the full tutorial from Martha Stewart from her website. Looking to make your own? Try spray painting your (washed) take out boxes and add an LED candle inside! Do you like the idea? Think it's a silly waste of time? Let us know below!

I'm a big believer in having VERY visible house numbers anyway, just for the sake of emergency responders, police, etc. Remember that seconds can count!
I'm for highly visible house numbers, too. In my region of South Carolina, the local fire stations sell blue signs with white numbers that have the advantage of better visibility and a standard appearance.
BUT I'd say if you need more visible house numbers, forgo the cute crafty idea, and spend your time and money on a permanent addition.
If you need quick extra identification for a party, what's wrong with the balloons-tied-to-the-mailbox idea?
I hand painted our house numbers very large on a transom window above our door and we regularly get thanked by delivery guys for having the easiest house to find. I figure, not only does our pizza arrive more quickly, but if we should ever need an emergency vehicle to find us, we're good!
