Q: My best friend has become obsessed with these gold coffee mugs she saw on Lipstick Jungle and I have scoured the internet for them with no luck. Her birthday is coming up and I was hoping someone in the vast Apartment Therapy design loving community might have clues to offer on where I might find these.

Found this with a quick google.
Oooh, just saw you have to order 1000. Whoops.
This with no optional picture? Though I can't see what you'd do with 36 of them...haha
They look vintage so maybe a flea markets or thrift stores could be a good place to start? I found some very similar mugs that sold on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/73592760/vintage-80s-glam-gold-coffee-mugs
Maybe that seller can give you some hints?
Good luck - they are REALLY great!
Here's the closest I've been able to find: http://www.amazon.com/LaCafatiere-CC021100-Titanium-Latte-Mugs/dp/B001K38NCS

or these, from Wal-Mart, but leave off the personalization photo:

Can you wait til Christmas? I've seen these everywhere around them at Dollarama. Yes. The Dollar Store. Not fancy and high end, but that's when they usually come out of the woodwork. Also craft stores like Michael's have them during that time of year.
I found these:

two options, both vintage on ebay: http://tinyurl.com/3mygg2y or http://tinyurl.com/3tn54uv . They definitely do look vintage... good luck!
Others have asked this question as well...

It refers you to a vintage/antique website and I was not able to find the mugs listed.
These look like mugs I saw at Graham and Green in london in 2005 or so - try them. Send the picture. I believe there were matching plates and they also came in silver. They were not heavy chunky mugs - they were more like a mug shape done in fine china.
I saw these on Joy's blog a while back...

I have these! I have 8 of these, and 4 metallic green ones and four metallic red ones. Yep - purchased them about 20 years ago at Christmas time. Look for vintage ones, perhaps watch for them on eBay.
@night, right on all accounts! I was thinking the same things before I came to your post.
These are a pretty cool alternative: http://www.addoway.com/viewad/One-KASHIMA-Japan-Gold-color-Irish-Tea-Coffee-Mug-316368

Different shape, but I think i like them better! http://www.etsy.com/listing/60035316/6-vintage-gold-coffee-mugs-black-rims?ref=sr_gallery_7&ga_search_query=gold+mug&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_category=housewares.serving.mug&ga_noautofacet=1&ga_page=3&ga_facet=vintage
I know this doesn't help, but I have the matching covered casserole!!
THANKS! To everyone for your suggestions and finds. I knew I could count on the AT community to get the un-gettable.
i second the diy option!
you should also check etsy. if it's a hard to find item there are a ton of people who will handmake them for you!
