Q: I recently moved into a downtown apartment in Manhattan. It has a "home office" (three walls and no windows) that I'm using as a dining room. I have a table for 6 with 6 white chairs. I want to paint one (or more) horizontal stripes on the walls, but I have a few questions for you all:
1. Do I use flat paint for the stripes, like the paint on the walls?
2. All of the walls in the apartment are white, but I have an orange pendant light, so I'm not afraid of color. I like the Glidden Antique Purple that I saw another reader use, and I'm partial to orange (obviously) and gray. What color do you think?
3. How easy will this be to paint, as I am NOT DIY inclined? I have never painted anything before. I'm not sure the walls are straight — do I need a laser level?
