Seeding the City is a small project aimed at increasing the number of green roofs in New York, one small patch at a time. The idea is that by creating a mini-green roof network, more people will become aware of the benefits and additional projects will take root.
The mini green roofs made by Seeding the City are comprised of:
- Containers: A series of 3' by 1' by 4" plastic trays
- Growing medium: a mixture of soil, sand, gravel and hydrorocks.
- Sedum: a hardy succulent plant, perfect for NYC rooftops.
The modules are multipliable to accommodate roofs of nearly any dimension. Seeding the City also provides flags to promote the green roof network.
