Apartment Therapy staffer Elise recently got engaged to her main squeeze Ryan (congrats, you crazy kids) and she needs our help. Her tiny, 450 square foot apartment isn't big enough to accommodate an onslaught of wedding gifts, but she knows that if she requests "no gifts" her well-intentioned relatives and friends will buy her presents anyway (they just won't necessarily be to her taste). C'mon, let's crowdsource this. What should she do?

Since Elise and Ryan's home is already pretty well-stocked with the basics, she's looking to register for things that are either upgrades to what she already has or things that are simple to store in her petite pad.

So tell us, married people, what was your best registry strategy? What did you receive and unexpectedly love and what turned out to be the gift from hell?

Elise and Ryan will thank you now and, we're sure, for years to come.
