Q: I've been hunting around forever and I haven't been able to find this one particular iPad app with a retro-styled clock. It reminds me of childhood. I must have it! Can you see if anyone knows where I could find it?
A: We believe your answer is the Alarm Clock HD Pro for the iPad. It's available for $1.99 on the Apple iTunes store. If you really want to get rid of the extra weather detail, we believe there's an option inside the app where you can turn it off for a clean, minimal look.

You can select from a variety of colors, too, just in case that 'retro' red drives you crazy after a while (some may argue this is actually a digital-styled clock, by the way).
For the curious, the iPad stand in the first photo is the PadFoot available for $20 here.

"Retro"-ness has become such a fad nowadays that people attach the word to things that are in no way retro at all - in this example, clocks nowadays are still made in this "retro" style. Its called an LCD clock, and I'd challenge you to find a commonplace clock that uses something different as its display (ignoring analogue, but how's THAT for "retro")
This looks just like "Alarm Clock" by iHandySoft.

My guess: it's a mockup of a clock app, and you're unlikely to find an exact match. However, this is a good article for those looking for clock apps with this design.
@Timmeh: While it's not out of a question that an inverted LCD panel with a colored backlight could create such an effect, it's more likely an LED clock, given the appearance of self-illuminating segments. ;-)
lol...I agree Timmeh. Maybe these folks just live in the future?
I'm curious about that small iPad stand where is it located
I live in the future.
Red is actually a much better colour to have near you when you're sleeping than blue... blue has been found to slow melatonin production (the hormone that makes you sleepy) because it simulates daylight too closely.
There has been a lot of research done linking blue/cool light in sleeping environments/hospitals to breast cancer and other diseases that are affected by hormone levels.
Fun fact of the day.... :D
On a note more related to the article... anyone know of a *reliable* iphone ipod/alarm clock app with this look? I downloaded one ages ago that only sounded the alarm when it felt like it, which isnt' really going to work for me... I want it to wake me up EVERY morning... to my own music...
Reminds me of Ghost in the Machine.
To answer some of your questions: the (really cool) app is nightstand HD and can be found at
http://www.spoonjuice.com/nightstand/hd/
They were so nice as to let me use it for my images.
The stand can be found here:

or bought directly here:

Timmeh42 has apparently never seen an old school LED display which were used in the 70's PRIOR to the advent of LCD technology, mostly in watches which required a button push to activate the display.

When always on liquid crystal display technology came out that didn't require a button push, it quickly replaced LED's, but in my (and apparently the creators of this app) opinion never looked anywhere near as cool.
While this app is neither LCD or LED, it's plainly trying to recreate the LED look and is as legitimately "RETRO" as it gets.
If all you want is a simple online stopwatch or timer may I suggest http://ipadstopwatch.com, it's a free and simple online stopwatch.
