Q: I need some inspiration from the Apartment Therapy community for what to do with this awkward corner in our bedroom! Our bedroom has a wall of built-in cupboards which is fantastic, with some useful open shelving on one end. However, the other end, next to the door, I'm having trouble with. It's a narrow space with a low chest of drawers and a glass top...and no light.
The main ceiling lamp in the bedroom doesn't reach this corner so it's in perpetual shadow. I know it's screaming for a light but there are no power sockets within easy access to it. I thought of putting a tall mirror on the wall to reflect the light, but being right next to the doorway it's a bit of an awkward space to stand and look at yourself - there's not enough space to stand back because the door, when open (and it usually is during the day) is wedged in behind you.
I think the only alternative to add light would be to get an electrician in, which would be costly, and then what would I display in such a narrow corner with no space to stand and admire anything displayed? Argh! I need help, please! I'm thinking of just giving up and putting in more shelves.
