All this talk of escape month has us thinking- if we could pack our bags and get away tomorrow where would we go? Our answer is the Henry Jones Art Hotel in Tasmania. It's the only Art Hotel in all of Australia, located right on the harbour's edge in a row of converted 1820's warehouses…
...and in the old IXL jam factory. The hotel showcases around 250 paintings, installations and sculptures all by Tasmanian artists across the hotels 50 rooms, restaurant, bar and function area. Most of the art is for sale and all can be view in the catalogues in every room.
The building itself still has most of its original stone walls as well as exposed beams and posts but it is completed with modern finishing and fittings. Even though the bathrooms are created out of glass, ceramic and stainless steel they appear to be warm and very inviting.
