With a permanent collection at about 50,000 pieces, the Fashion Institute of Technology decided it was time to let go of some things. The school is auctioning off hundreds of vintage and couture items, some dating back to the 18th century.

Organized by Charles A. Whitaker Auction Company, the event includes men's and women's clothing and accessories from the 1800s to today, as well as some antique textiles and original drawings from designers like Christian Dior and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel.

The auction also includes pieces from Southern Institution, Shippensburg State University, Allentown Art Museum, York County History Center, and other historical societies. The event will be held in New Hope, Pennsylvania on October 27-28.

Check out the gallery above for some of our favorite pieces.
