Herringbone and Chevron looks the same to me and I don't care for either of them. I have however seen some before and afters with Chevron that look pretty cool. Just not my taste. I worry if I'm ever ill, I won't be able to sit in a room that has painted Chevron's on the wall.
I love both chevron and herringbone. There definitely is a difference in the two patterns and often one is confused for the other. The items in the photos are all chevon (except for maybe the throw- can't see the pattern). The link below explains the difference:
