Hey! LEGO My Coffee Table Designed With Flash

Most IKEA hacks are quite simple, requiring a little paint and decorative customization. This one was a little more geeky, more involved. Deciding you want to customize an IKEA coffee table with a pixelated message using LEGOs and planning the project with Adobe Flash Builder isn't your usual IKEA project. Lucky for us, we were able to find out exactly how this project was completed.

It takes a pretty creative person to get the bright idea of transforming their IKEA coffee table into something from LEGO land. That's exactly what Quentin from France did! He was bored by his RAMVIK coffee table and decided to add a pixelized Hey! under the tempered glass using nothing but LEGO's! Before he could do anything, he needed to figure out some logistics.

Quentin created a google doc to figure out the best dimensions for laying out the word in LEGO's. Based on price and time, he decided on a 4x4 because it was the cheapest option and still required a decent number of LEGO's.

For the design he chose 36x16 layout and font Heavy Oblique Futura. Using Adobe Flash Builder to come up with a concise number of bricks he'd have to order to complete the project. Once the bricks were ordered, the building began:
