"The Latina Ty Pennington" That's what Scott Corridan fondly called Adriana Nussbaumer, fellow cast member and former housemate. The two shared one-way tickets back to Cali from the Vegas set of HGTV's Design Star after this week's second double elimination. AT caught up with Adriana before she started her day back in the real world, where she has a thriving design/build business.
Hear why the emotions of the experience surprised her, why she now has a whole new respect for reality television stars, how emails from fans helped her realize she hasn't let anyone down, and why fifteen minutes of fame takes at least six hours to film....
Personally, if we're comparing her to network celebs, we think she's more Eva Longoria (in a good way) than Ty Pennington, but the toolbelt does seem to fit… she knows her way around a kitchen. Kitchen remodel, that is.
We loved Adriana's improv-ability during the ".99 Reasons to be Cretaive" challenge, where hair scrunchies became hanging sculpture (much to Cynthia Rowley's delight) and a T-shirt provided the necessary fabric for an ottoman redo, among her many "McGyver-meets-Martha Stewart" feats of craftiness that are sure to inspire even the most reluctant DIYer.
Adriana is sweet as Dulce de Leche and we're sure she will continue to brighten lives with her radiant smile, super-positive attitude, design passion and carpentry skills, even if not from among the dwindling ranks of Design Star contenders. Sure, she went. But Adriana, you go!

Remember, each week we'll be interviewing the latest fallen Star from the cast of Design Star.
And hear all about the show direct from the HGTV VP, Event Programming, James Bolosh, in the interview that kicked off the season of this HGTV ratings powerhouse exclusively for AT readers.
