We just caught word that “mommyblogger” Heather Armstrong of dooce.com is teaming up with HGTV. The network has signed Armstrong "to an exclusive programming development deal" for online and on-air content:
We can't wait to see what Heather and HGTV have in store: we love her photography, personality, and sense of style. Look for an unveiling of more details in Spring 2010. And in the meantime, find more info in this press release and over at dooce.com.

Shaw's Original Fir...
OMG! I have been a huge follower of Heathers for years now. I am so pumped to see what she does for HGTV. She really is an inspiration!
yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
heather rocks!!!!!
i feel she comes across as bitter. somewhere in her witticisms the line between sarcasm and bitterness has been crossed. I no longer follow. can't imagine such snarkiness makes for pleasant tv.
but Jersey Shore makes for pleasant tv?
I'm interested to see how this goes over. I follow Heather, but I know some people loathe her. in my opinion, she's been pretty smart about capitalizing on her oddly found fame...
Yeah, she'll probably have to tone down the sarcasm for HGTV. Which could make her more pleasant.
I'm so glad to hear it!
ps: Maytag-gate?? Please. Sometimes complaining publicly about a defective product is my only recourse - and in Heather's case it actually accomplished something (something not at all negative I might add). Where's the "gate" in that?
Wow, you guys are rude.
You don't have to like her, but insulting her like that just makes you look bad, not her.
I'll admit to really enjoying Dooce's blog, I think she writes well, and is an entertaining read, most of the time. But a style show? Huh? Did I miss something there? There are so many other bloggers, mommy and otherwise who I look to for style inspiration. Heather Armstrong? not so much.
Can someone please explain the appeal of Dooce? I know she gets thousands of hits a day, and I just don't get it. I check in every so often to see if anything has changed. Nope, still boring as all get out.
"Momservations"? "Meowsies?"
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Maybe I'm just bitter because HGTV was hiring sarcastic people and my phone never rang. :)
And seriously, hope whatever they develop is less convoluted than her writing. I read four paragraphs before I had ANY idea what she was even talking about.
Meh. I've never understood her popularity. I can't imagine her show will be any better than her blog, so I guess I'll not be watching then.
it seems funny that those who seem to loathe heather of dooce seem to know so much about her and her antics. I personally am a fan of her blog. it's purely entertaining. sure you can take it or leave it but is it necessary to throw out so much contempt for someone who will have little to no impact on your personal aesthetics or life? so what if you don't like it, then walk away. if you do like then great, have your fill. I find it senseless to throw daggers at each other without a reasonable cause.

Come sit next to me, I'll make cocktails!

So I know this women is a mommyblogger, which holds no appeal for me but when did she become a designer? I think HGTV has long gone the way of the Food Network - just dumbed down programming. All I can say is if this women's eye for design is the same one she uses to apply makeup - holy clown!
