Professor/critic/theorist/urban activist Marshall McLuhan was a famous resident who lived at house No. 3. His home was an Edwardian mansion designed by Eden Smith, whose own was built on the same street.
Most of the houses in the Wychwood Park are mansions or very large houses but that's not what makes the neighborhood special. The area feels like a historic, private community with gravel roads, wood gates, shared tennis court and scenic pond and woods.
The community was amalgamated into Toronto in 1909, but the area is still run by the residents' executive council.
Have you ever been to Wychwood Park? Does your city have a similar hidden neighborhood?

I love this neighborhood. We live down the street and are counting the years before we can afford to move there.
It's a beautiful neighborhood, I'm so pleased to see it on apartment therapy!
Awesom neighbourhood for a leisurely bike ride. You forget you're in the heart of downtown, it's so quiet and green and peaceful!
I love this neighbourhood. It's especially nice to bike around in the fall when the leaves change colour. The houses there are massive mansions, but they are also so tastefully done that it doesn't feel gross in that showy way.
The photos posted do not do this neighbourhood justice.
#4 is for sale right now....if you've got $2.7 million to spare, it's all yours!

It sounds cool. I wish there were photos of the actual houses. Maybe I will Google it later.
Honestly, this place has always given me the creeps. I see the appeal of the all the trees and the pond, etc. but there is something a little...dead about the area. Like no one lives there, even though there are people living there.
Is that stop sign in the picture homemade?
I live a few blocks away and it's so quiet and beautiful to walk around there. So lucky to be close by!
I love hidden neighborhoods. The Guilford neighborhood in Baltimore is semi-hidden. It is bordered by main roads, but the interior has the feel of the English countryside. It has manor homes, a few cottages, and a tulip garden.

Looks lovely. What's not to like about a neighborhood with lovely trees and a pond and such a quiet and beautiful place to walk.
@ Leoneontheverge -- Don't you love how the realtor described the 2+ million $ house as 'humble'. He/she gives new meaning to the word!
