So can you guess what design dilemma is solved by these two pieces? At only 32 x 22 x 6, they pack a hidden storage punch far beyond their diminutive footprint. In fact, these pieces can dramatically extend the functionality of even the smallest of living spaces...

Are you surprised to discover each of these small cabinets actually conceals a fold-down workspace and small storage area? Though this Murphy Desk won't replace a home office, it can provide a handy writing space and bill-payment center that might be perfect in a small space, especially for anyone whose computer use generally involves a laptop on the couch! At only $160, this convertible cabinet/desk is available in black and walnut from Overstock.
Be honest now - did you guess correctly?

Genius!
I love that. I want one.
actually surprising! very nice!
Ok, that's without a doubt, the coolest piece of furniture I've seen in a long time. It would be perfect for crafters with limited space...
That's really cool!
I remember many, many years ago seeing a cabinet like this built into the wall of an old Victorian apartment - it was for a fold-down dining table!
Oh, I wish I had taken that apartment - It was so beautiful with the large casement windows, high ceilings and sloped walls from the Mansard roof...
I love this approach for ironing boards as well. It's on my wish list for our laundry room.
It's actually a great idea for a child's room! We have been struggling to come up with a good solution for a desk in my 7 year old room. It is a bit on the small side and I was thinking of getting one of those drop down tables from IKEA, but this is an even better solution!!!! I like that there is some orginizational areas for things like construction paper and other little things!
That is freaking awesome.
A friend of mine rents a 1920s or '30s Spanish cottage in Pasadena that has something like that built into the kitchen. You can use it as a folding dining table or just extra prep space. It's awesome.
Wow! I so want one!
Just what I've been looking for!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! OMG!
Perfect. I love this. Fantastic craft space!
I live in a tiny downtown loft, with a very tiny kitchen. That would make a darling little island to help for food prep. Once your done, fold it up. I love it!
Saweeet!!!!! Now I need to measure potential "destinations" in my living space for this little design marvel.
this is genuinely brilliant
NEVER would have guessed it...love this! Want one now, and it's affordable. Brilliant!
you caught me with the laptop on the couch comment
I want this so much!
I would absolutely use that for a bill paying center, and then re-do my study with my secretary as my desk, and allowing my sweet old school "teacher's desk" to move on to greener pastures.
i heart. :)
A person could add to the confusion by framing a print or poster in matching wood and attaching it SECURELY with little nails or screws (remembering it would hang down facing the floor when the desk is in use.) If the proportions were right, it would give the illusion of a thick picture frame.

That's a very good idea -
- one could also choose to have a mirror cut to size and beveled and mounted on there as well.
But what's the point, really? When would you actually take everything off and fold it up?
I guessed a table, though not a desk specifically.
What a clever little thing.
I've got one and it's fantastic. Very convenient for a small space. Also well built.
