with a piece of osb and a screw gun I made my own version of the Muro Media Storage from DWR. cost me $50 and looks great.

Not the greatest picture of it, but this is mine -- a table my mom found in alley in 1973. :D It's got one shelf and great squares on the sides. I painted it black a couple years ago, and it's probably my favorite piece of furniture.

I have the mondrian media console and it's pretty nice looking, but wow is it a pain to assemble. Set aside some serious time to put in all 45 or so metal screws by hand, as recommended. Ow.

I love the green TV, I still have my old black and white tv like that one. Hubby wanted me to throw it out, no way, I love it and it still works and is very clear. It's a treasure to me.

I searched for something is a glossy white with lots of storage for a reasonable price. I couldn't find anything! So after seeing a great living room in Domino with the TV on a two dressers pushed together, I decided to get two 3 drawer malms in white and mount the TV over that. I love it and it only cost $140. I now have lots of storage and figure I can repurpose the dressers some day.

We got the Besta Jagra at Ikea for our 42-inch. It was kind of a bitch to put together (I hadn't yet realized that concrete floors Ikea requires protection to keep it from looking like it came from as-is).

It was really cheap at $150, and I like that it has drawers to hide all the extra cables and PS3 stuff out of my sight, and it's on casters, which was an absolute requirement for me, since we'll need to move the tv out of the fireplace when it's colder.

I tried Craigslist but it was all terrible black and glass ones designed for tube TVs and first-apartments. Or those massive oak boxes everyone's parents had in the 80s.

I would never ,ever, go with open storage for media and electronics (like the color CB2 ones), and I went with the dark finish, so it recedes from view.

The C&B one is gorgeous but I'd use it as a buffet before I'd use it as a TV stand (depending on the height, of course). And I need a buffet desperately!

My husband made ours with cut/sanded/finished pieces of oak and threaded rod. You can add to it forever, store it or move it easily when needed--it's kind of awesome. It's completely adjustable to whatever our space allows (we're apartment dwellers) and we've used it for years and modified it as each space needed. Sometimes we create a huge shelving unit and other times (like now) we use it as end tables, coffee table, and TV unit:

My husband added the TV unit component to specifically fit our TV. If we decided to buy end tables or a coffee table we can rearrange the pieces and create a shelving unit.

I wonder if you could wall mount the floating media drawer to make it truly floating?
