I love #1
Sad that there's nothing featured for small animals, like rabbits or hamsters. I'm in the midst of designing a 2 level "condo" for my very spoiled rabbit and a shy guinea pig, and am always on the lookout for ideas. I'm probably going to hack an existing piece of furniture, like an old dresser.
My bunny would totally love #9 though :)
I'll follow up on some of the dog habitats. Thanks!
:( no reptiles allowed
I saw a cat bed in a shop recently called the Cat's Eye that was a bit similar to the pod, but lower to the floor, with a cushion inside and a scratching "post" top surface. It appeared stackable for more layers, and was kind of stylish! (I'm too broke to invest, so I didn't notice the price.)
The fish habitats featured here may be suitable for some rodents or reptiles. Also, there are fun TV, TV cabinet, and armoire hacks for small pets habitats. I saw them somewhere online within the last year.
Looks great. Here is another even more luxurious pair of kennels at Sotheby's: http://www.sothebys.com/app/live/lot/LotDetail.jsp?lot_id=159571734
Neither of the aquariums is at all appropriate for keeping fish. Fish need filtration to keep the water they "breathe" clean, bacteria colonies to keep the ammonia down, heat for tropical species, and places to hide. They also need a LOT more space. It's one thing to prioritize design for a dog- or cat-bed, since the animal can just sleep somewhere else if it wants, but fish have no choice but to live in their aquariums.
The birdcage part of the second one is also inadequate. Birds need toys, grit, a wide variety of perches (to keep their feet from growing too used to one grip, which causes arthritis) and enough room to stretch their wings.
Failing to provide a comfortable environment for your pet in the name of design is inhumane.
@Inkydots - Those are excellent points.
Love the look of the fish condo, but where the heck is the heater? Bettas require at least 78F ! Not to mention changing that small quantity of water every five days looks like it would be tricky.
I've never understood spending money a cat bed, they sleep wherever the hell they want to!
I agree with you Ana! My townhouse is my dogs' habitat!

Ohhh. Oh, no. That foofy dog bed. 5 is cool, but 9 conjures middle-aged women (no slam intended, will eventually be one myself) who dress their little dogs in ballerina outfits and take them to doggie Glamour Shots. (Yes, I used to work with one of these. Yes, I do think she had a similar bed for Little Precious. Yes, it strikes me as highly vomitous.) Normally I'm all for anything that breaks up AT's overwhelming tendency toward the MCM/modern, but...not like this. (It's not still 4/1, is it?)
