Tricia Huntely put a sleek modern twist on the classical feel of the master sitting room, painting the elaborate molding the same color as the walls and creating sparkle with unusual mirrors that read almost like art. My favorite element, though, is the 70s Italian ceiling fixture -- me-ow!
There is a stubborn debate over the purpose of a design house: is it to showcase cutting edge ideas, or inspire beautiful real life living? Opposing sides write each other off as either too bland or too impractical. Thankfully, this year's DC Design house, which opened April 14, has plenty to please both camps.
There is a lot to notice and to love about this year's design house, so much, in fact, that I will have to break down the inspiration into several posts. There were plenty of practical ideas to steal for renters, and equally as many ideas to take away for those wishing to ramp up the wow factor at home. But today, let me share some of my favorite details, big and small.
