The first showing of what the four prominent architectural teams are proposing for the Highline brought out crowds. So many, in fact, that there wasn't enough room and some were left standing outside. Wonderful. The fact that Friends of the Highline (the citizens group started in 1999) has been able to preserve the 70 year old structure and generate so much excitement about what will surely be a quirky, inspiring and uniquely New York project is a wonderful occurence and all who have helped deserve great credit. What lies ahead is sure to have its ups and downs, but if the meetings stay packed, the good will out.
