From Classic to Plastic. Ceasar Stoffi's candle tripods are a great example of sixties design. The slightly space age flair of the shape, the flexibility of the arrangement, and the quality of the manufacture by Nagel have made these a collectors item, with a price point to match. Currently there is a set of 40 for sale through Wright for $1250.

We ran across the pop interpretation of the design today...

...the HOMMAGE modular candelabra. The plastic version of the candelabra is available in sets of opaque white and black, and translucent orange, red, clear, brown and purple and pink for 9.95 EUR.

Found on design3000.de, a gifty-ish German site, we couldn't quite figure out the number of pieces in each set, although from the photo, it looks like four or so.

And while that makes the HOMMAGE candleholders quite a bit more accessible, we think the classic would still be the way to go...our vote: save your pennies for the real thing on this high/low.
