High/Low:Ghostly Light

On the high end, we've been eyeing this Sad Ghost Lamp for awhile now. Artist Marcel Dzama (for cerealart) created this little guy as a three-dimensional incarnation of his Saddest Ghost painting.

Standing at 8 inches tall and made of molded silicon and ABS plastic, we think this objet d'art makes for a great night light in the nursery. Turn it on for late-night diaper changes or keep it on to help little ones fall asleep. Like all art, this is a limited edition which means there will be only 2,499 others who own it.

Available for $150 at Velocity and Art Brat, among others.

If that's too much to spend, we found a budget-friendlier alternative. No, not Casper, but Ikea's Spoka.

Designed by Bodrul Khalique for Ikea, this less expensive cousin is made of silicone rubber. We picked up one in green (also available in blue as well as red, as shown) to try out in the nursery.

Spoka gave us a pleasant surprise – it's rechargeable. Once fully loaded, Spoka can last for 4-6 hours unplugged so you can easily move it around the nursery. Available at Ikea stores (not available online) for $13.
