It feels like eons ago that we all got excited for H&M Home - we blogged about it starting back in December 2008. Well, fast forward almost three years and we just got the latest scoop on exactly when the home goods collections will be available in the states…
According to this article in ISBN Magazine, the previously online-in-Europe-only home collections (which launched in 2009) will finally become available online for the US market as well this coming Spring, 2012.
The article includes some other interesting tidbits on the home division of the affordable retailer; the Home collection gets updated four times a year and relates its trends to seasonal fashion shifts. 8 designers work on the home goods, compared to 120 in the fashion division.
Taking a peek at the current home items available online at H&M in Great Britain, one can see that they are broken down into specific collections that vary widely in style, color and potential target customer, from Bohemian Vintage and Authentic Autumn (both with interesting components) to Playful Style (LOTS of pink and puppies), with plenty of basics filling out the offerings.
So, after the long wait, what do you think? Anything in the current collections catching your eye? Are you looking forward to H&M Home becoming available here?

Looking forward to this. Thanks for the heads up!
AHHH I cant wait
Now if they would only become an online retailer, we'd have it made!
My initial response was excitement, but in terms of clothing I've always been disappointed by quality - I hope that I'm pleasantly surprised! Since I'm young and relatively recently married, this would be a great, inexpensive resource for home decor.
But, I say - proceed with caution. It'd still be better to save pennies and invest in quality instead of having an "ooh, shiny" moment at H&M and then be disappointed.
I've been in the shop here in Stockholm and it was nothing special. More or less the same kind of stuff as in all design shops and not very cheap either. I would buy something there if it caught my eye though.
Erm, it's rather Urban Outfitters-ish.
Have to agree with B from Stockholm: there's nothing here I haven't seen in a dozen other places. The fourth picture (with the silver bag) looks like stuff TK Maxx has been selling for years.
I agree with previous posters who have said to proceed with caution. I have had such mixed experiences with H&M clothing. As a result of them, I would not automatically run to H&M for home goods, nor would I make them my first choice for home goods shopping. If there was something that interested me there, then I might, but only after a certain amount of inspection.
Not in the least excited...H&M quality in clothes is a step below Target.
I'm so old that I'm actually starting to subscribe to the "buy the best and you only cry once" school of thought.
Isn't it always a good idea to have more design choices?
If this is the quality of their clothing...I won't bother.
I'd definitely shop there for "throw-away" things, like trendier accent pillows, festive table runners and table cloths, shower curtains, etc. Basically anything that's cheap enough that I wouldn't be sad to see go and that's changed often enough that (hopefully) I'm ready for something new before it's had the chance to fall apart.
I never understood why people would spend $150-200 per throw pillow when they'll just change their decoration colors in a year or two. If it's not a time-investment, I'm not convinced it should be a financial investment.
I'm enthusiastic to see what they have, but not super impressed with what I've seen so far.
We'll see: I at least might be inspired to make something new.
Spring 2012 ಠ_ಠ
... I wonder how the pintucked cushion compares to UO's....
I hate to say it, but judging by those pictures, everything really does look so two years ago. I never thought I'd say that and mean it literally.
Meh.
Hurry up and come to Canada!
This does not impress me. The styling of the shots is nice but the merchandise isn't anything special.
I was just looking at this stuff in Finland over the summer, and the quality is incredibly crappy. And I didn't see anything that was interestingly designed. Very cheapo Provence.
Not impressed
I'm with others that the quality and freshness of the stuff might not be the greatest, but I bet it'll be good for certain things in the same way Urban Outfitters is, or IKEA. I'm looking forward to it being available here...
now can we have Zara Home
uhn huhn.... what about zara home?
those metallic "textile baskets" are divine!!!!
now all we need is zara home...
If you crave stuff with French writing on it, you don't have to go all the way to Europe or wait for European stores to open in the U.S. Come to Montreal for vacation, and stock up on francophile merchandise at Home Depot or even the grocery store. It's not at all fancy or expensive here.
Bohemian vintage is my thing, but it's available everywhere (including thrift shops) and mass market defeats the point of the look, which isn't supposed to resemble your friend's house.
Still, I'm totally not above buying a few things if they're available online.
Nothing really new and exciting. Pretty much they just copied what other stores are already carrying and the whole faux French thing has been over done already and they are very late entering the market.
Awesome,so looking forward to this.
This should be fun!
Will it be available in Canada too?
