Receiving holiday cards is such a great feeling, but then we're always stuck wondering what to do with them. Obviously we don't want to just throw them away or just pile them up on a table. There are some creative ways to display the cards for everyone to see.
Sometimes someone will send a really awesome card that you honestly wouldn't mind looking at each day of the holiday season. An interesting way to display your favorite cards is in a tablescape. Taking inspiration from Ten Easy, Not Cheesy, Ways to Enliven A Thanksgiving Table, replace the family portraits with your favorite holiday cards! They'll add color, interest and personality to the table.
Another interesting idea is to use an old window. We see them popping up in home decor quite often (as headboards or just vintage wall art). Hang the window (or prop it up on a credenza) and stick the holiday cards where the glass meets the frame!

I tack up a long ribbon across a wide doorway and hang them on that. Then the photo cards i just tape up on one side of the doorway
eeks, I'm stealing your ribbon idea. I have a bunch of birthday cards that keep falling off the fridge, but I'm not quite ready to part with them yet. :)
I put them in a large shallow silver bowl. I don't think they need to be festooned around the room.
I enjoy this simple idea. In years past, we've filled them (and arranged them) in a large, glass vase, but you're right in that every now and then, you want to SEE them!
Love that gilt picture frame! What a great idea. Seems pretty simple to make (certainly less than PB's price). Using thrifted frames, might make a great idea for displaying birthday cards and kids' art. Hmmm....
I'm going to get some really heavy duty ribbon (the kind with the wire), some felt, and clothespins. Just cut the felt into whatever you want, glue them to the clothespins and glue the other side of the clothespins to the ribbon. String it across a window or a doorway and just make sure it's secure enough to hold all the weight.
I have a set of louvred (sp?) doors that I trashpicked ages ago. They sit in the corner of my living room, and every Christmas I hang my cards through the slats so that the fronts of them show. Yes, the vertical cards end up being sideways, but I just layer the horizontal cards over them a little.
Mmm, finally a use for the old frames I've had in storage for awhile. Usually I display any cards we get on bookshelfs, mantel, tv stand and a lucky few actually make it on to the Christmas tree. After the holiday I save some to make gift tags for the next year.
I only get a few, less than 10, cards per year, so we just set then up among the greens on the mantle. Pretty basic!
Since I was little we got a piece of cotton and strung it up on a wall or across a window and hung them on that. Then came our first mantel piece, and so they got put on that. Now I think I'm going with the ribbon idea.
Love these ideas! I always struggle with what to do with mine, and these sure beat taping them to the door, which was my solution for years!
At the end of every season I take my favorite cards (whether it be for the design or the message inside) and clue magnets to the back of them. Voila! Instant Christmasification for your fridge! In our last apartment we had a metal front door which also got the pretty Christmas card treatment. I miss that door...
