Once the plants in the seasonal hanging pots have turned to dust, use the hanger hooks for oversized holiday decorations. These jumbo jingle bells are pretty, but classic ornaments would also look great.
My favorite idea is to re-purpose the garden hose reel for holiday lights. Certainly less trouble to put away and then get back out again next year.
Did you buy a wreath last year? If you saved the metal frame that usually holds them together, you could make yourself a simple wrapped light wreath this year.
Woven hanging baskets can also be turned into twinkly treasures. Use holiday lights to poke through the cracks to make beautiful bowls full of sparkle.
and finally -- do you use cloches? Why not re-use them by filling with ornaments or holiday lights?

You forgot making a Christmas tree by turning a tomato cage upside down, tying the ends together, and wrapping a garland or lights around it.
I like these ideas quite well. Another idea of my own: bundle strands of red string lights in an unused fire pit for the winter and light at night!
