As Janel reported in December, honeysuckle is Pantone's it color for the year 2011. She shared a few rooms where the color took center stage and more than a few of you were not so smitten. Maybe it's more suited to being an accent color? Let's look at some home accessories in the color of our new year:
We must say, the of-the-moment color looks fantastic in classic pieces like Arne Jacobsen's Ant Chair (first image above). That's still quite a commitment to the color - those chairs are expensive! However, a more affordable route can include fabrics, pillows, and linens. So, if 2011's honeysuckle is not quite palatable for you in large doses yet, consider it in an unexpected accent. It just might surprise you!

I love this color mixed with orange, as in the second photo with the orange pics on the wall. Summery and fruity!
really love the bathmat in the 4th picture...any leads on that?
What color descriptor are people going to use to actually search for accessories in "honeysuckle"? Fuchsia? Hot pink?
The name of this color really bothers me. The house I grew up in had loads of honeysuckle and it was definitely NOT pink -- nor in my travels here and abroad have I ever seen pink honeysuckle.
I'd wear this color, but I still wouldn't put it in my home. It reminds me of my Barbie Dream house from 1985.
I totally agree that this color works best as an accent color, and it really doesn't have to Barbie Dreamhouse-ish. (That analogy seems to pop up a lot!). There are some great examples of this out there in ethnic and global fabrics, and when used along with rustic and natural pieces, it can be quite nice.
I'm sorry, but YUCK! This color is SO juvenile! It's reminiscent of bubble gum or Barbie. And I agree with 'tahitianpearl'....honeysuckle is white 99% of the time, the pink variation is quite unusual.
My whole LIFE is this color, I absolutely adore it!
The last picture works the best, in my mind. But there, the color looks more watermelon than "honeysuckle". Which is probably why I like it best. It's deeper.
I loooove this color, but I have to agree with tahitianpearl... I have never seen honeysuckle in this color. I've only seen yellow and white.
That being said, a quick Google image search proved me wrong :)
@Heidi Muller, Agreed. When paired with orange, it reminds me of India and Mexico.
I've been carrying a copy of this picture for years. Sigh.
I want that fixture in the first picture!!!
I have some of Kartell's Frilly Chairs from YLiving in the pink color, and they're so much fun! I always get comments on how much people love them. You can find them here: http://www.yliving.com/kartell-frilly-chair.html
Since when is honeysuckle pink? Its always been yellow, as far as I know.
I love the splash of color on those dining chairs, though they don't look terribly comfortable.
I just shared some tips on integrating this year's hot color into your kitchen without dating it:
