The Tribune site has a new look this week - and Sunday's lead story was about giving a sofa a new look through low priced (under $100) slipcovers.

They chose three and gave them all a go, rating them on ease of donning and overall appearance. It's not a route we choose if we had any other options, but we applaud the decision to reuse instead of buying new and if reupholstery is out of the budget for the time being, this will buy some time while you save up for the bigger project.

Also from H&G this week:

Snoop Patrol: interviews Kelly Edwards, a designer for HGTV's Design on a Dime. She is based in Chicago and talks about her apartment in Bucktown.

Dishing: A Quick Summer dinner - Flat iron steaks, lemon garlic pattypan squash, and berries with mascarpone cream.

Tips: to make your home shelter mag worthy. A few ideas based on homeowners experiences in having their places photographed for magazines...what the stylists do to spiff things up for the cameras.

Kitchen Technology: This pieces looks at a few interesting questions...It may have cool new features, but are consumers willing to pay top dollar for them? Does price determine performance?
