First, there's the globe itself — a time-worn symbol of romance, adventure and travel. (I've seen the House Tours, I know I'm not the only in love with globes!) But when Wendy's considerable talents are applied to these geographic gems, the result is an altogether different global experience. Suddenly, horizons are expanded, and what was once a learning tool in elementary school becomes a work of art — an expression of your world view. Does wanderlust fill your soul? Is peace your passion? Has your world been rocked? There's a globe for you! And if there's not, or if you'd like your globe customized or tweaked a little, Wendy will happily oblige. Seriously, Peter Pan never had it this good…

Those prices are outrageous (especially since she probably doesn't make her own globes), but boy is that butterfly globe gorgeous!
I look at the globes and I like what I see. Then I see the price and I can only say to myself...DIY!
any ideas on how one would decoupage like the "peace" globe?
Wendy might want to rethink using trademarked characters (Where the Wild Things Are), unless she really likes those nasty "cease and desist" letters.
@modernhulagirl - I would find an extremely smooth globe (plastic ones don't have the crease from the paper that covers paper globes) and spray paint it white. Add a heavy sheen of gloss to it as well.
If you can't print the "peace" on a piece of map paper that is large enough you could always trace it lightly onto the map and cut it out very carefully.
For the peace globe, I would print out peace in a font you like, Cut it out of sticker paper and place on the globe, spray paint globe, remove sticker paper, smile that you saved a ton of cash.
they're lovely globes but I see DIY too.
It looks to me like she somehow masked out the "peace" and painted everything around it.
P.S. These are amazing!
Any good sources for butterflies like that? I've looked with little success. Don't care if they are stickers, wrapping paper, scrap booking stuff, etc. Thanks.
some butterflies can be found at

and in Dover Clip art books, gift wrap, stickers (from book stores or stationary shops)
oops! i thought this was a DIY. This is a very awesome idea... outdated globes are everywhere. why not cover up the USSR? :)
I already have some of these vintage travel stickers that may look great on the globe:

Lovely! And Peace on earth would make a great holiday ornament as well.
I don't look at these and think they're overpriced. A lot of work and talent went into them. But I can totally see a DIY version being very appealing because you can make it however you want. Great idea all around!
Thanks Laucus116, why hadn't I thought of Dover!
