Home & Garden Roundup: 08.08.07 and 08.11.07

Aug 14, 2007

Highlights from the Chron's H&G:

Design Spotting: A 1920s cottage in fire-torn Angora hills is a model for rebuilding: Zahid Sardar features Juniper Ledge, a 1,300-square foot cabin on the south side of Lake Tahoe. Designed by architect Warren Charles Perry, the home has a sleeping loft, rodent-proof tin closet for putting away linens and mattresses in the winter, hardwood floors and clear, furniture-quality redwood throughout.

Also from H&G:

Take Two: Elevating a concrete yard to glamorous heights: A patch of concrete and gravel in outer Noe Valley becomes a play yard for a child and a modern viewing spot for architect/designer parents. Zahid Sardar tells us how in his piece in Sunday's Chronicle

Design Dilemmas: Mix window treatments to stay warm: Beryn Hammil advises a SF homeowner with single pane windows to combine elements for insulation

Around the House: Thos. Moser's Vita dining set: Susan Fornoff says the solid cherry dining table and chairs stopped traffic at H&G

Around the House: Erin Adams' Luna tiles - upscale, recycled: Susan thinks all "upscale eyes" will be on the recycled aluminum and glass tiles
