Home Interior Ideas HD
We've been pretty frugal in the iPad apps download department, but after a few inquiries about when Apartment Therapy will ever have an iPad app and recommendations/opinions about other decor apps out there, we decided we'd purchase the 99 cents Home Interior Ideas HD app to see if there was any utility and value with the home decor category app.
Let's start off with a positive: the app has nice, iPad optimized images. That's about all we can say about the Home Interior Ideas HD
app, as otherwise it's just a small collection (they say hundreds) of interior decor images, separated into 6 categories:
- LIVING ROOM
- KITCHEN & DINING ROOM
- HOUSE POOL & JACUZZI
- JAPANESE HOME INTERIOR
All you can really do besides scroll through images is to bookmark specific as a favourite image for future reference, but there's no ability to import to the database yourself (the app is supposedly updated regularly with more rooms) and we'd like to see more categories. As a visual decor tool, we would have liked an integrated note making tool, colour categories and paint resource reference, outgoing shopping links, and recommendations for similar decor/furnishings per room.
A few music files are included to accompany your browsing, but we'd prefer the ability to watch slideshows with our own music rather than push upon users a limited selection of tunes. Overall, there's very little the app provides in-depth as a decor tool or inspiration board, with such limited options, so at this time, we cannot recommend this product, especially for the 99 cents cost to download (better us than you). We'd dare say, you're better served just browsing through our archive of home tours for inspiration!
Pros: iPad optimized images
Cons: Extremely limited utility, room photos tend to be very catalog in appearance, clunky interface, no ability to use own music
