Ok, what was that? We love PR, lots - but the tearing apart of the contents of their new apartments to create their looks last night was just a little too "rockstar trashes hotel room" for us. Hard to watch, wasteful, and kind of sad. That said, the end results from a few of the new designers were really interesting (and amazingly elegant).

Runway-worthy clothing from upholstery, bedding, rugs, shower curtains and coffee filters? How would have thought? We really weren't expecting much but some of them were able to "make it work" to quote the lovable Tim Gunn.
Check out the rest of the designs from the "Home Sewn" episode at Blogging Project Runway and Bravo.

I'm so excited to have PR back on the air.. (not that I need another distraction from studying for the bar exam though).
Did anyone else gasp when that leather chaise was torn up?
I actually enjoyed the "Road to the Runway" show that was on the hour before PR. They showed the designers' portfolios and initial interviews. It gave me a little insight into each designer, and just makes me really want to see what they will come up with this season.
Bigtime fan of RUNWAY here. I loved this episode and thought some of the designs were amazing, especially Robert's (the Barbie designer.) I thought his dress with the red bows in in the back was superior to the winning look by Keith.
Keith is pretty arrogant and will be one to watch. The tatoo guy in the hoodie (Sebelia?) is this year's Santino and I predict he will stick around for entertainment value.
Lots of interesting characters!! Love this show!
yes, yes, the chaise, i know. so hard so watch. (seemed to make a pretty sweet little skirt though)
Love love loved the coffee filter dress! So creative!
Did anyone else think crazy basket hat guy (Vincent) looked a lot like Rick Bayless? He totally should have been booted. So so so bad!
CRAZY HAT MAN!!!
Too much to say here. I posted a recap on my blog today. Check it if you want:

Yeah, they definitely kept Vincent (crazy hat guy) on there for entertainment. He was awful! I did think there were a lot of nice designs though. This season should be good. I'm still mad that Chloe won though.
I really had to hunt to find Tim's Take, Gunn's blog on the designs which is definitely worth reading! (He likens Vincent's wacky basket hat to Fred & Ricky's Parisian designs!! Ha ha ha!) And I thought I'd pass along the link that you will want to bookmark, I believe.

Hey, Amber! Really enjoyed your blog. Bookmarked it and I expect to read your take every week as well as Tim's! Now to see if TV w/o Pity's doing Runway and my life is complete!!
Huge fan of PR too! Coffe filter dress was gorgeous. Crazy basket hat guy will definitely be entertaining. What was he thinking? Sebelius- really liked his dress. Although Santino was an arrogant so-and-so I really loved how different his stuff was and was rooting for him to win.
i'm glad to hear everyone like the coffee filter dress as much as i did! i was surprised the judges didn't gush a bit more over that one....with a name like michael knight, i gotta love him.
I think I saw in next week's preview a glimpse of their redecorated apartments, but I thought it was hilarious how they walked into their ruined apartments after their long first day...
This challenge was much more fun that season 2's first challenge ("Clothes off your back") because no one's personal clothes/stuff were at issue (I always thought the wrong person was cut in the first episode of season 2). It's not like anyone had a personal stake in these apartments' decor.
Now, if someone asked me to rip apart my own home... that would be awful!
I liked the "Road to the Runway" show too, seeing what former contestants/designers have been up to. Looks like everyone is doing really well! Austin doing the wedding dresses was a scream!
At first I wasn't liking the redhead mom, Laura (that whole exposed collarbone/sternum thing kind of bothered me, anyone else?) but I totally dug her coat, with the fur trim and embelishments.
Can't wait to hear what all this drama is with something being "totally illegal"! It's killing me!
If you cannot get enough of PR, you might want to check out the Television without pity website which has forums with threads devoted to each designer and hilarious and snarky comments!
Thanks for the reminder about TWP, Holly! I love that site!
And for those of you w/o cable who want to get in on all the PR action, NBC will be reairing the episodes on Mondays!!
My daughter and I--huge PR fans--were at Emmett's fab store last night where we met TIM, Emmett, Nick, Kara, Chloe and her sister, Tara, etc. Everyone so nice and store is lovely. The very best PR site is blogging project runway (for those similarly obsessed)... http://bloggingprojectrunway.com

Yea! Another fan of the coffee filter dress. Granted, it resembled Chloe's ice skating dress, but I thought the use of materials was so creative.
I'm sorry, Keith and the plain sheet? Isn't that just like using a bolt of material? The others were much more creative. Tim mentioned in his podcast that quite a bit of judging this season is "taste oriented". Le sigh.
I thought Stacey had to go. It was for her own good. I don't think I could take seeing another Season 1 Star meltdown. Just because you have a Harvard MBA doesn't mean you can do *anything*.
I hated that items were torn apart broken and ransacked and never even used. It seemed that most people used the sheets and shower curtains.
Boo
Great insight into the creative process, thats the only reason to watch, the comments from the judges always come off as sour grapes to me,one in four is usually construtive, the others just say things because they think they have to. Love Mr.Korrs but, could he sound anymore like a bitchy jealous queen.
I thought that Stacy's situation was pretty awful, I mean did she think that she was going to hand sew every garment. When she listed the 4 C's of success, she should have included "CEWING". Harvard MBA? Personally I think the school is filled with obsessive compulsives. This was so impractical that Harvard called her yesterday, and they want that degree back.
This season is taking an unfortunate turn. People who have some celebrity connection. The rock star guy will probably do more damage to his career by being eliminated very early. The lady with the five kids comes off as completely self obsessed. I can not imagine how much time she spends in the mirror. Her coat had great potential, but the dimensions were completely off. It was a big furry tent.
I think that the illegality will involve drugs.
