Okay, we're dreaming a bit with this post. But, as we wrap up Arts, Crafts and Collections Month here at Apartment Therapy, let's take a look at homes bestowed with iconic art. Just for the fun of it...
How about a:
1: Robert Longo in the dining room (Tony Soluri / Chicago Home & Garden)
2: Pablo Picasso in the living room (Rebecca McAlpin / The Wall Street Journal)
3: Jim Dine visible from the patio (via Trust Your Style)
4: Jenny Holzer in the kitchen, above the hood (Klein Residence by Ohlhausen DuBois)
What would be your one dream art piece for your home? Ours would have to be a Rothko.

Robert Longo's Men in Cities series are some of my favorite works EVER. It would be incredible to have these for eye candy during dinner!
Mondrian!
I see a DeKooning, Giacometti and Franz West in the second shot - where's the picasso?
Remedios Varo - her stuff is AMAZING. But even if I could afford it I'd never be able to have one of her paintings; all the privately held works are permanently attached to their owners (mostly her family and a few lucky others). I guess once you have one you never want to let it go.
If you want a similar look to the first pic, these decals could be a fun cheap substitute:

If Pollock hung in my home, I would never leave.
Love Robert Longo's Men in the Cities too. I know someone you has an amazing collection. I liked it in the 80's and I still do wish I would of purchase a piece back then.
One of Chris Ofili's paintings from the Upper Room.
The gigantic Jess drawing from the SFMoMA titled "Narkissos" would be awesome. So many intricate details to look at - you'd never get tired of it and it would provide great dinner conversation.

David Hockney, Rauschenberg, Johns, Motherwell...
If we can always dream, lithographs and engravings can be a more affordable solution. It's fairly easy to find ones by great 20th century artists if you are a big fan. I own two serigraphs by Canadian Michael Snow that I bought at a good price and they look great!
Helen Frankenthaler
Anselm Kiefer
Quirky local artists like Cosmo Compoli or forgot her first name Hubby (cracking faces, she later went insane).
