(Our honorable mentions go to submissions that did not make the finals but really rock. They are awarded purely at the judge's discretion. Each honorable mention receives a special gift.)

Our Room & Board Judge, Emily Gurstelle, made a wonderful choice of Northwest #7, Shannon’s Sumptuous Studio for her honorable mention.
Emily says: I love how much personality is packed into that small studio. The strong colors might be too much for some, but I see a very cohesive design between the furniture, accessories and walls. You can tell how much thought was put into each element—from the dining table to the bedroom nook. For me, this space has a great balance of edited possessions and worldly comforts.

Congratulations to Shannon!
Stay tuned this week as we will be showcasing the expanded entries from our 16 regional finalists and our international finalists - more small cool...

LOVE the closet bed.
Glad this one got recognized - it was one of my favorites.
Oh good--I really like this one.
This was one of my favorites too- glad to see it get some recognition here. Congrats Shannon!
I am so happy to see this one picked as a winner--I think it has tons of personality, and I love the strong colors--Fantastic small space.
Congratulations!!

I like the closet bed, but I don't care for this common look - one accent color throughout the apartment is very predictable, very obvious. This look is the result of shows like David Bromstad's Color Splash where one picks a color and matched everything.
What is that beautiful blue? I'm looking for a saturated blue like that for my bathroom.
I loved this one. i wish it had made it to the finals.
I'm glad this apartment got at least an honorable mention, though I'd have like to see it in the finals too. This seems like a special place that will only get better and better with time. I really liked this one!
