Looking for salvaged wood but don't know where to go? Horigan Urban Forest Products may be one of the best salvaged wood resources in Chicagoland area. Horigan UFP recycles trees from construction sites, fallen trees from storms or disease, and other trees that would typically be used as firewood or mulch. They salvage the trees and convert them to lumber to be used for your unique furniture projects.
Horigan UFP will mill and kiln dry trees when they need to be removed from a site. The beautiful wood is produced without a single tree being removed purposefully for lumber. Horigan works with many artists, cabinet makers, and builders who can use this lumber to create one-of-a-kind projects.
We used Horigan's wood for a project and couldn't have been happier with the outcome. A large tree unfortunately was taken down for construction, but we were able to repurpose the tree as doors and a lovely mantle in the house. Not only were we able to use a recycled, local product, but it also made for a great story and a personal touch for the home.
Horigan has a regular inventory of hardwoods ranging from ash to black walnut available in flat sawn, quarter sawn and rift sawn in various thicknesses and widths. They specialize in wide boards, mantels, book matching, and wain edge lumber.
While Horigan does not actually produce furniture they serve as a great material resource and can offer recommendations for local woodworkers, furniture makers and other designers depending on your project.
The Horigan UFP warehouse is open Monday, Thursday and Friday 8 - 5, Saturday 8 - 3, and Tuesday and Wednesday by appointment. Call for pricing.
