The time has come to celebrate potatoes! Gather plenty of friends, plenty of oil, and, of course, plenty of potatoes, and spend a few hours printing and frying to your hearts' content. Make your holiday cards with one hand while eating latkes with the other!
I must confess: I did not come up with the idea for a combination latke-making and potato-printing party on my own. Last year, my dear friends Imin Yeh (artist and printing-teacher) and Leah Rosenberg (artist and pastry chef) hosted a charming event at San Francisco's 18 Reasons in celebration of The Latke Who Wouldn't Stop Screaming by Lemony Snicket and Lisa Brown. They taught kids to make latkes and print with potatoes, there was a dramatic reading, and a grand time was had by all. In honor of all that delightfulness, allow me to encourage you to have a Potato Party of your own!
