Hot or Not?: But it's cheap and useful...

Though the desk itself is pleasant-looking enough, I voted not because there's nothing to distinguish it from absolutely everything else out there.

Two old sawhorses and a plank of distressed wood would probably be cheaper and have a more interesting look. Plus the lack of drawers is a pretty big downside for me.

Tidying up those wires would help the appearance tremendously...

...and for tidying those wire, Ikea can help. Search for the "signum" cable organizer -- I'd argue it's a hotter product than the desk.

I used to have a double-length version of this as my desk (since replaced with PBs Bedford corner desk) and now this Galant 48" wide piece with same legs (exactly like the one in the photo) is functioning for me as a kitchen table.

Nice to know the going rate is $89. :)

Cleaning up the cords and losing the side drawers will indeed help a lot. In the right space, a loft like architects office perhaps, this will look fabulous and function well. Add an inexpensive rolling drawer unit (or put castors on a drawer unit you already have - mixing semi industrial looks would work well here) and you are set. I saw a kitchen redo on the hgtv website that used tool boxes on castors as under cabinet drawer, looked intersting. I vote hot.

wow. i was shocked and embarrassed that the desk i have up for sale is in a hot/not!

it is funny there are comments about the signum cable organizer b/c there is one on the underside of this desk but it isn't tall enough for the laptop brick and my wife isn't really enthused about cable management.

i myself am voting 'not' b/c this desk it purely functional and is a room that is devoted to boring office furniture. i am moving to a new place and am replacing it with a very hot vintage steelcase tanker desk in sage green.

I first purchased this desk because of it's price, but when I took it home and assembled it the desk started to shake when I was just typing on my computer. I thought it was a defect since I never had a problem with my other desk that I had in that same space so I decided it may have been a defect so I exchange for the same thing. Unfortunately the same thing happened even after making certain it's leveled. After the second time I decided to return it and buy a desk at Hold Everything without having any problems.

It's decent, but for the price, it ends up being kind of hot.

I actually kind of like the accompanying file cabinet!

I voted not, but not because it's hideous or anything... it's OK. Not fabulous or interesting, but moderately functional and won't make you run screaming. I think it would be better for book-studying and hand-writing-on-paper than for typing, because of the stuff Rich mentioned.

I have 3 of these. They are sagging in the middle.
