We recently stumbled upon several photos of Walden, this charmingly skinny prefab garden shed that also serves as an outdoor living space. German architect Nils Holger Moormann has hidden away everything the outdoor enthusiast would need to have a good time and maintain the grounds.
This tiny portable prefab contains everything necessary to live simply in the great outdoors (as Thoreau would have intended). No electricity required, there is a place to stack your wood, a swinging cauldron fireplace, retractable awnings, and a loft bedroom up top! The outdoor space of your choosing serves as the living room, but the structure still affords you a place to sit and enjoy it. So, is it just a clever idea or could something like this work for you?

Ercol Bar Stool
Oh wow! This is one of those 'I wish I'd thought of that!' things!!!

Love the idea but I'm too claustrophobic to consider it an option for myself.
I don't think I could do this.
many Germans own a garden allotment, especially apartment dwellers. I think this is meant to go on an allotment and would be great for that? better than yet another kitsch shed!
Look!
He's invented a Wall Unit!!!
Well... couldn't you get the same uses as a potting shed? Plus the photos show it all "open", when it's closed wouldn't it look like a wood monolith? Maybe it's functional art?
shrug.

There are some inherent flaw in this design, what do you do when it rains on your flat roof with sliding doors to get out from the top, especially when there are walls all around and a water fall flowing off over your head?
@most
If you look at the drawing in the linked page, you can see that the roofing is sloped so rain can run off.

I'm impressed that the designer managed to build in even a "bedroom" and a what from the drawing seems a breakfast niche.
Love it... would never in a million years consider buying it, but I love it.
no bathroom I take it?
Seems like a strong wind would blow it over...
It would be fun for that cabin in the woods camping kind of experience.
I wonder if there was a reason for the 3-foot width. It seems like you could fit all of those amenities in a smaller volume if it wasn't so narrow. But I guess the point is that it is a garden shed, not supposed to be a house.
