This reminds me of a coworker I once had. She was from Ecuador and she had some of her children's baby teeth set with a gold fitting and wore them as jewelry. After being throuroughly creeped out, I admired her preservation of a cultural tradition. Her sister also did it. It's not like thay pulled the teeth for this purpose.
Quite gross. If a child has to have their appendix removed, are you going to fix it in formaldehyde and display it on the bookshelf?
I knew this lady who actually saved all of her kids' umbilical cord stumps when they fell off. She had them in a little red velvet ring box. They looked like funky raisins...
I also heard of some celebrity, maybe Tea Leoni, that had hear children's baby teeth made into a necklace. It's not far from the old bronzed shoes, but I'm not sure I'd do it, either.
I saved my baby teeth after they fell out (I had a human anatomy fascination), but I thought of them as scientific specimens....not keepsakes.
Gross.
Awful. What's next, toenail clippings?
Creeeepy.
This actually makes me a little nauseous.
saving baby teeth - sure. turning them into jewelry - okay, I can understand it. but carving them?
