The LEED Platinum BrightBuilt Barn is a net-zero energy home that uses solar thermal panels and photovoltaic coupled with a super-insulated envelope to create enough energy to power the house off-the-grid. At the base of the house is an array of LED lights – they glow green when more power is being produced than consumed, conversely the lights glow red when the house is using more power than it’s producing.
The BrightBuilt Barn is a 700 square foot building with loft space. The floor plan can be easily used as open studios with an office space, or it can be reconfigured to serve as a one- or two-bedroom house.

What good is it if you can't see it from the inside?
Why not just have one small LED inside (like by your front door) instead of a whole array of wasted lights outside? It looks cool, but if you are that concerned about being green, extra LEDs are still waste, even if it is less waste.
