Hot or Not? Cassette Tape Skeletons by Brian Dettmer

We never really gotten into the whole taxidermy trend – real or not it always seemed a little creepy. However, these cassette tape skeletons might change our mind. Read more below the jump...

This series of cassette tape taxidermy was concieved by artist Brian Dettmer as he pondered the decline of analog technology in an increasingly digital world. From this idea spawned a series of animal and human skeletons – even a full body skeleton made from 180 cassettes. All the pieces are made purely from the cassette and cassette tape without any other adhesives or materials. Much of Dettmer's art is made of reused materials altered by selectively removing and manipulating elements as a way to allow new interpretations and ideas to emerge.
