Um, it makes a small ugly cord into a big ugly cord. I truly don't get it.
Not. The point is to get rid of clutter and hide cords for a streamlined look. There is no need to draw attention to something so ugly.
There needs to be another option - one for complete ambivalence. I don't think this is ugly, but I'm not into it either. Something like M-E-H perhaps?
