What's the point of a transparent chair if it has cushions on it?
I like it (but not necessarily in the colors above). It's like having x-ray vision.
This is hot, but only because these are beautiful cushions that appear to be custom-sized for the ghost chair. The single tuft with radiating pleats is centred in the ghost frame, and it looks like the entire cushion is floating. Very nice.
I think it actually has more impact this way than a regular ghost chair, and it adds comfort to hard plastic.
But if you just throw any old cushion on a ghost chair, then I agree with bepsf.
More importantly, why is only 1/2 of the dining room wallpapered?
Good Question (kellylc) Hot or Not?
Dig it. The ghost chair is too severe for some people. In this room, the cushions soften it without losing the edgy vibe this chair has. Works perfect with the rest of the room, which has a soft edge to it that you don't notice at first, like the half-wallpaper: very subtle, unexpected = soft edge.
And "soft edge" is very Gossip Girl. Not that I watch the show or anything. Ahem.
This defeats the entire purpose of a ghost chair, which is to drop something and see if the gals are wearing underpants.
i never liked the ghost chair before, but they look great this way!
I will admit to liking Gossip Girl and I love both the styling and the interiors on that show. It's always delightfully thought out. I think the cushions lend a comfortable elegance to the Ghost chairs. Begs you to linger at the dinner party a bit longer. And like lightspeed said, the cushions are custom done for these chairs to highlight their amazing features. They aren't a DIY or a Target purchase.
kinda' defeats the purpose...
defeats what purpose? these are amazing
Much better. The damn things are god awful uncomfortable for sitting any length of time. You need the cushions if using in a dining room. Style w/o comfort is silly. And I particularly like these cushions, although I wonder how they keep them in place. Probably just a TV thing..
you guys need to check out the loft on that show. it's supposed to be the "poor" family, but the place is amazing.
i love the transparent chairs with cushions--it really allows you to see the texture of the fabric. and i love gossip girl, so by default these chairs are hot!
...at least it makes the chairs more comfortable... they are not favourites of mine because they are all about the wit of the design, and little or nothing about the actual use, which is pretty poor design, IMHO
I'm on the fence on this one, I'm wondering how those little tabs holding the cushions look up close- a little cheap maybe? I'm sitting on a ghost chair right now and find it very comfortable-I guess it depends on your body type (a little more padding in back!)...
I love a sheep skin thrown over a Ghost chair. Decadent yet tactile. Yes, it's still uncomfortable yet so are 4" Manolos and I'm not giving those up any time soon.
Not very ghost-y with cushions, eh?
Stunning!
I totally agree with lightspeed.
I love, love, love ghost chairs. I've had two at my dining table for 2 years (which I could afford two more) and without cushions they'd have been a scratched mess!!! If anyone finds out how they are attached, please let us all know.
**wish
why would you do that? boo.
I think it looks very stylish, above all for a place like that, that is supposed to be a "classic", "classy" and "posh" place. I mean, you mix something modern with something classic, and the combination you get is awesome.
where can i get those cushion pads for my chair? please let me know :) I love it!
the cushions were custom. a cure for the dp's complaining that they reflected too much on camera. they are attached with velcro tabs and do not look cheap. also every wall has covering. it is the angle of the light in the photo that made it disappear in this shot.. xoxo
