Dude, it's an axe. You use it to cut stuff, trees preferably.

I like the idea and would probably hang one in my house.

Although, that price tag is ridiculous. It would be much more fun to buy an axe at the hardware store and paint your own.

My husband is an arborist and he teased me when he walked into the office and saw me reading this post. Apparently they aren't cool enough for someone who uses axes on a regular basis.

This is beyond lame. Painted fake antlers made more sense. Sorta.

This post made me think twice about axes...they are quite attractive, streamlined tools...but I'd rather buy just a well made one from a hardware store, or an antique, than one of these fancy ones...they kind of vaguely remind me of those cheesy pink handled tool sets you can buy for "the ladies." :P

The first axe is $350...sheesh! Vaguely reminiscent of Donald Lipski's early art...I like that these originate in Maine but doubt many of the crusty authentic Mainers I know would go for the polka dots!LoL

I actually painted once my hammer in funky colors... I was 14. geez, I could have sell it, begin a "designer" line and be rich by now!

I can see the tool being worth $250 depending on the quality of the hand forging. But then hanging it on the wall would be decreasing the value, at least to me.

It makes me a little sad to see (potentially) artisan made tools of a higher quality be reduced to wall decor.

For the design savvy lumberjack, the nice, quiet, axe murder down the block - the must have tool for the season. I can see them drooling over one now.

YES!!

They're both supremely tacky, useless, and I would cringe to have either in my home.

I bought the Firth of Forth.

It's beautiful, and I plan to use it! Which is what the founders would like people to do with these axes, although they're not against people using them as decoration.

Granted these axes are not for everyone, but please don't bash when you don't know anything about the company.
