We think most new parents would agree that a newborn's appearance on the scene is not usually a Zen experience. Fisher Price's Zen Collection is designed to "create harmony in the home, with its earthy colors, beautiful wood accents and richly textured fabrics." So, what do you think? I love the pile of river stones in the middle of the floor. I guess Zen babies are wise beyond their years and know not to asphyxiate themselves.
yikes...this is scary.
These are fugly beyond measure. They look like corporate waiting room furniture... for babies.
Also what's up with the footprint on that swing... you'd need an extra bedroom for it.
Inspired by nature and simplicity, huh?
the bold contrasts in colors is not so soothing, it altogether looks overdone and more likely suited for a hotel lobby. It all just looks sort of awkward.
That... is... horrible.
FP is trying way too hard. Yuck.
it was a miss
I'd much rather have that stuff sitting in my living room than the Rainforest pattern they sell.
This certainly doesn't look like it is inspired by simplicity!
Terrible. Just terrible. What happened to the focus group?
I'm with kaykay.
This is leaps and bounds better that most of what's available. Not everyone wants rainbows and elephants, and they can't all afford $$$$ that most of the nice modern stuff costs.
That tipi looking thing of the bassinet has got to go though!
Mixed feelings about this. It's way better than the throw-up primary-colored stuff out there -- stuff I had to buy for lack of options -- but couldn't they have tried another soothing color scheme? And the form factors look even bulkier than ever! YUCK.
I actually think that the color of the room in which the items are displayed is off-putting. Imagine the items against a softer color and they're not so bad.
ick. more cultural misappropriation. inspired by P.F. Chang's!
where's the kente cloth/lion king African version?
nothing speaks better to a zen philosophy than cheap plastic!
I agree with some of the previous posts. My feelings are mixed. As a concept, pretty darn fugly and confusing with it's Zen message and plastic build... BUUUT, having these colors in my home would be a closer match than the bright (and LOUD) patterns that many of these items come in now. I suppose it would serve its purpose no less than other products and do so without clashing AS MUCH in my home. But their presentation is laughable.
The bassinet isn't so bad, but otherwise, they're ugly. And they're expensive! Way more so than other Fisher Price stuff. I saw it on Amazon recently. But then, my home has bright colors, so maybe the typical baby stuff won't look so weird come this fall when Plaxico is born.
I also love bright colours.
Primary is not the same as bright.
I rather paint my daugther bedroom green and put some lotus flower fabric than buy those thing to feel zen.
Serious kudos to FP for at least trying.... However, I think they need to keep working on it. This is not my idea of attractive.
I agree with Ophelia - That garish red wall is a terrible backdrop to the items- totally distracts from the point they are trying to make. And while the items do seem bulky and overly-designed, it is an alternative to the current stuff out there. They should have a second colorway though...
It looks like it was designed by jar jar binks (sorry, hubby is a star wars nerd and sucks me into it)
They've managed to make "zen" as ugly and busy as most of the other baby furniture on the market.
LOL!!!
Yuck. I prefer brightly colored stuff that FP makes, like the aquarium or rainforest themes. That said, most of these things are only used by baby for the first year and then it's sold on craigslist...so, in hindsight, I would have bought used.
